Hi my name is Sandi, I'm from Houston, Texas. I'd like to share my experience with stepping outside my own comfort zone, and finding a dentist outside of The US to fulfill my dental needs and desires. I had long suffered with an illness which caused pretty major damage to my once healthy teeth and gums. Once I could maintain stable health, I knew I must find the specialist to begin my restoration. Beginning with my Oral Surgeon, in Houston I was told I would have to undergo complete gum tissue grafting. This was a very tedious, painful and expensive step. One that I later learned could have been eliminated, had I seen my Dr. of choice, first. Following the gum and tissue grafting, I had to wait quite a long period for healing… while I was very self conscious of stitches hanging out of my mouth, and pretty intense pain. Finally I began the journey with my chosen implant and restoration "Smile" specialist. It wasn't long before I was no longer smiling. The processes were limited and the materials being used were not discussed with me in detail. The idea here, in the states is I am to trust my doctor and allow him to make the "right choices" for me. This is not a concept I could grasp. It's my smile, my money-why then shouldn't I have a voice in what is being done? I decided to explore what I remembered overhearing… Over seas dentistry. This opened my eyes to more. I learned that I didn't have to travel to a far off country to receive affordable dentistry, I could visit our neighbor "Mexico." I began an inquiry and phone calls started pouring in. Luckily, one call came that I immediately recognized as the Doctor of Choice. Dr. Ermilo Cervera. Dr. Cervera studied at the very prestigious Loma Linda University in LA, which speaks volumes for his credentials. I was amazed with the information he revealed over the phone, which my dentist at home left anonymous. He told me exactly which laboratory he would be using, and gave me their website to check out the different materials used. It was unbelievable the difference in the service we are accustomed to receiving and that which we SHOULD receive. I haven't even mentioned the substantial savings, also broken down into choices "I" could make. Today, I have a beautiful smile, again. Dr. Cervera didn't just restore my smile… which is never taken for granted, but he also restored a huge part of my life. I am a vocalist, as well as a vocal instructor. I had given up my love of teaching because I was ashamed to open wide to show exactly how I wanted my students to place their tongues and use their teeth as part of their instrument. Now I am proud to be back on track and those who know me can confirm as I'm seldom seen without a huge smile! I couldn't be happier with the work I had done by Dr. Ermilio at Smile Art. I took a pretty nasty spill and had to have some teeth pulled out, and thus needed some replacement teeth. Ermilio checked me out, recommended the proper replacements, and within a week I had my new teeth a low and honest price. All was very professional and handled with utmost care. I should also note that Ermilio speaks perfect English and Spanish, which was helpful. I would highly recommend Smile Art to anyone in need of high class dental work at affordable and fair prices.
