Dr. Rafat A. Abbasi brings unparalleled knowledge and expertise to the fields of gynecology and endocrinology. At Columbia Fertility Associates, she conducts a wide range of fertility treatments to provide her patients with the same compassion she has applied throughout her medical career.

After earning her medical degree from the University of Sind in Karashi, Pakistan, Dr. Abbasi fulfilled her residency training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Townson, Maryland. She then completed a fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. During her fellowship she received a number of awards in honor of her excellence in research.

For ten years Dr. Abbasi brought her expertise to the United States Army, where she served as Chief of Endocrinology at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Abbasi returned to the Washington, D.C. area where, in addition to her work at Columbia Fertility Associates, she currently serves as a clinical advisor to the National Institute of Health (NIH) and chairs the Department for Gynecology at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

In 2008, Dr. Abbasi was among Washingtonian magazine’s Top Doctor’s 2008 listing.
