Same Sex Parenting and Surrogacy

By Kai Colvin - Senior Medical Research Editor | May 9th, 2012

The number of same-sex parents in America today—between 1.5 million and 5 million.

The modern day family is no longer defined by the traditional man, woman and child. More and more children to date are raised by gay and lesbian couples.

Record numbers of same sex couples are building families through surrogacy options. And today’s peer groups of kids are just as harmonious and healthy as children of heterosexual parents.

The interesting take is today’s society all-too-quickly assumes that a child needs to have a mother and a father rather than two moms or two dads.

Gay surrogacy is transforming the gay culture throughout the world. For gay men, family building requires the use of an egg donor and a gestational surrogate. These roles may be provided for gay men by their female relatives or friends, or through women who will provide these services through a fee-based agreement assisted by an agency.

Christopher Fraley, 42, and Victor Self, 41, are proud parents of 20-month-old Coco. Coco was born through a surrogate using a donor egg.

Christopher and Victor have braced themselves for the questions Coco may have one day like, "Why don't I have a mommy?" The men playfully answered "Because you have two daddies."

"Is it such a big deal?" asks Fraley. "Look around. All families are different."

Amazing stories just like these are the realities of modern same sex parenting.

Concentrated by the arrival of modern technology and same sex awareness, gay surrogacy is quickly sweeping the world and introduced abroad at an affordable cost.

Countries such as India, Thailand, Ukraine, and Georgia are becoming pioneers in medical tourism and international surrogacy services. They recognize that gay couples make extremely loving parents and assist individuals in attaining their dreams.

Same sex surrogacy in India is recognized and welcomed. Surrogacy clinics in India are equipped with the latest in fertility technologies with high success rates.

Surrogacy can be a stressful journey, but clinics offering gay surrogacy in Georgia offer modern facilities and the highly-qualified staff members understand both the excitement and difficulty for gay parents.

In the Ukraine, Gender selection is legal and gay surrogacy is widely accepted. The Ukraine surrogacy industry is the backbone of the medical tourism emergence.
