Internal bra for breast lift

By Brandie Umar - Executive Director of Content | September 4th, 2010

A revolutionary new plastic surgery technique could be offered to women who are considering breast lift surgery. Plastic surgeon Dr. Peet van Devente has developed a internal bra which functions exactly as a breast lift surgery - the benefit being it is a permanent bra-alternative placed under the skin.

The Breform breast uplift surgery uses the ligaments in the breasts to lift and hold the breasts in position. The mesh 'bra' is connected to the chest walls, acting as a supportive structure to the breasts. Over time the majority of the mesh is absorbed by the body, as in other surgical procedures where mesh is used. The mesh is held in a hammock style support created by the breast ligaments.

Initially, the outline of the mesh is visible through the breast as the skin is pulled tightly across it to create an invisible, wrinkle free finish. Within 4 weeks the mesh is invisible and unlike traditional breast lift surgery, no scars are visible. Women who undergo Breform surgery are able to regain confidence in their figure with nobody knowing they have undergone surgery. According to Breform developer Dr. van Devente, the results of a breast lift with Breform are permanent.

The Breform procedure has been trialled in Europe for the past 4 years with successful results and is approved as a plastic surgery alternative to traditional

breast lift plastic surgery for women unhappy with their breasts. The procedure is yet to be approved for use in the USA due to the FDA requirement for all new surgical procedures to be monitored for adverse affects 10 years after the procedure is performed.

Currently only 6 surgeons in the UK are qualified to perform the surgery with an additional handful of surgeons throughout Europe offering the procedure.
