Argentina Joins Globalized Health Care and Promotes Medical Tourism

By Kai Colvin - Senior Medical Research Editor | March 15th, 2012

Tourists have long endured the appeal of Argentina’s spectacular landscapes, vivacious culture and lavish cuisine. Nonetheless, as the demand soars for affordable skin care procedures, inexpensive fertility treatments and world class dental care, a new trend has magnetized international visitors to the country — Globalized Health Care.

The amount of patients from the US flying to Argentina for medical tourism has amplified by 75% in the last 12 months.

Extravagantly positioned in South America, divided from Chile to the west by the backbone of the Andes, Argentina has prepared a federal plan for sustainable tourism.

By Illuminating the Federal Plan for Sustainable Tourism, Minister Meyer proclaimed significant assets placed in Argentina tourism substructure and training. "Argentina has the best prepared and best educated population in South America. This translates into superior service and greater customer satisfaction."

"In 2010 one of every five tourists traveling to South America and one of every four dollars spent in the region will be in Argentina," the Minister explained. "Nevertheless, this is just the beginning, as tourism in Argentina will grow at a rate of 10% annually until 2020, compared with the world average of 4.1%."

Dr. Diego Schavelzon, president of the Argentine Chamber of Plastic Surgery Centers explains that a facelift costing $15,000 in the US is priced at $5,000 in Argentina. Fertility treatments offered by doctors in London cost only $15,000 in top Buenos Aires clinics.

Medical tourism channels a US centered global association. With international medical tourism conferences held year round the trend has not only increased medical tourism to date, but is paving the way for a solid future.

Argentina medical tourism is a touch of extreme significance to the 43 million plus Americans without health insurance and 120 million without dental coverage, and the rapidly increasing number of couples seeking fertility treatment.

From the superlative Iguazu Falls to the tip of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina is embraced by a wide diversity of awe-inspiring parks, splendid natural reserves and enthralling monuments.

With lush forests and overwhelming glaciers, Argentina never disappoints. From Salta, the best preserved colonial city in Argentina, the wildlife-rich Valdes Peninsula to the incredible scenery of Ushuaia, Argentina will outshine your greatest expectations.

The sustained growth in medical tourism creates a valued retort in Argentina, as the average medical tourism visitor stays 12 days.

Argentina has developed as one of the global leaders in medical tourism with its world-class facilities, significant overhaul in government standards, venture in newer technology and first-rate surgeons with broad experience across medicine’s top specialized fields.
