Candidates For Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair loss affects men and women. The reasons for male and female pattern baldness are different but the treatment is the same: both men and women can benefit from hair transplant surgery procedures either using the FUE or FUT methods. There are three main factors taken into consideration when determining if hair transplant surgery is right for you.

  • determining the available grafts that the patient is able to donate
  • current age and level of baldness of the patient
  • if the hair growth pattern, based on the patients hair follicles, can be duplicated naturally
Men and women who have hair loss due to trauma or burns, as well as men and women whose hair lines have receded due to cosmetic procedures such as facelifts can also be great candidates for hair loss transplants.

Along with these, it is important to consider the progression of male and female pattern baldness at any age.  Before determining if you are a suitable candidate, the hair transplant surgeon will measure the stage of hair loss; using the Norwood scale for male pattern baldness and the Ludwig scale for women.
