Braces

Dental Braces are a form of reconstructive dentistry that corrects for misaligned teeth. The crookedness of one’s teeth can be highly influential to one’s overall appearance. Confidence in one’s smile brings confidence in oneself. Dental braces offer patients a solution to enhancing their appearance and achieving the teeth they desire. Braces are in fact the most common treatment used by orthodontists (specialists in improper bites) to correct for misaligned teeth.

A Good Candidate for Braces

If you are unhappy with the alignment of your teeth, you are probably a good candidate for dental braces. Many people think dental braces are just treatments for children. More and more adults, however, are turning to braces as solutions for their crooked teeth. Dental braces can drastically improve your smile and make you appear young and healthy.

Preparing for Braces

While preparing for braces, your orthodontist will closely examine your teeth to determine the source of the problem. He will then advise you on the different types of braces available and estimate the needed procedure time.

What are Braces?

Dental braces are a cosmetic dentistry procedure designed to enhance one's appearance through correcting for misaligned teeth or jaw bite. Braces are the most common treatment used by orthodontists to improve the appearance of one's teeth. Dental braces are comprised of brackets held together by archwire that places pressure on the teeth to gradually move them teeth into plac.

Types of dental brace

There are several different types of braces ranging from traditional metal braces to Invisalign. Your doctor will advice which type is best for your particular needs and interests. Learn more about the different types of dental brace available.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a type of dental brace that subtly straightens crooked teeth. Invisalign is customized to a patient's mouth and must be worn at least 22 hours a day.

Dietary Restrictions from Braces

It is best to avoid sticky or very hard foods to prevent damaging the wire or aligners. Immediately after receiving braces, your teeth and gum will be sore and a liquid diet is recommended to avoid increased pain.

Risks and Side Effects of Braces

Dental braces are a relatively safe and simple cosmetic dentistry procedure. Nonetheless, it is important to understand the risks and side effects associated with the treatment. Patients experience mild pain and soreness after the braces are tightened and the teeth experience more pressure. In order to avoid most risks, patients need to utilize good oral hygiene habits and treat their braces carefully.

Cost of Braces

The cost of braces ranges between 4 and 10 thousand dollars and depends largely on the type of braces and the length of treatment.
