Whiter teeth - laser or veneers?

Coffee drinkers are often concerned that laser tooth whitening may give only short-term results as continuing to drink coffee will repeatedly stain teeth. In such cases, are veneers a better option?

Hi, I'm not a coffee drinker but I drink tea and my teeth were horribly stained before I had them whitened. my dentist warned me not to drink as much after because they would just stain again. I think whitening teeth repeatedly weakens them? Sorry, I can't answer your question though!

I have veneers on two of my front teeth and I'm having my teeth whitened. My veneers were recommended by my dentist to hide a couple of small cracks which whitening wouldn't have hiden...in the cracks the discolouration was worse than the rest of the tooth. I drink coffee and haven't noticed a difference between the discolouration of the veneer teeth and the natural teeth. I'm going to a dentist in Mexico for my tooth whitening because it was so much cheaper than whitening in the UK (I'm having laser) and the dentist didn't mention veneers as an alternative...

Like anything else, if you whiten your teeth and then drink coffee, the teeth are going to eventually stain back. What we recommend is doing the laser whitening but having touch up trays made the same day. These trays can then be used at a later time to rewhiten the teeth back to the desired shade, without having to do laser whitening again. Of course the other option is always porcelain veneers, but this is a more extreme cosmetic procedure that might not be an option for every patient.
