What's the difference between IVF & ICSI? - Infertility (IVF)

What's the difference between IVF & ICSI?

...aren't they they same treatment?

Yes they are the same treatment, but to be more specific, IVF is the basic In Vitro Fertilization while ICSI is the top In Vitro Fertilization treatment. That only differ on the way the lab. technician fertilizes the eggs on the lab.
The difference is that in (conventional) IVF the eggs and the sperm are placed together so the fertilization process can take place in the petri dish inside a specialized incubator. With the ICSI, things are more complicated, when the sperm is unable to fertilize the egg by itself (even having the egg in front of him), we need to inject him into the egg. However this is not an easy task, the sperm needs to be injected in a very specific way. Otherwise he wont be able to fertilize the egg even if he is already inside.
