Does prolonged computer use aggravate the symptoms of cataracts? - Eye Care (Ophthalmology)

Does prolonged computer use aggravate the symptoms of cataracts?

My eyes go out of focus when using a computer or watching TV. Also fluorescent and mercury vapor lights in commercial buildings tend to have the same effect. I am developing cataracts, and I am wondering if the glare produced by these things are exacerbating the symptoms of cataracts. Will this problem be alleviated, or hopefully eliminated, with the pending surgery?

Unfortunately, cataracts are a common development with age. As cataracts develop, they gradually hinder eyesight. You are smart to pay attention to your symptoms and consider your options.

Cataracts cloud the lens in your eye. The lens is what focuses images and sends it to the back of your eye (the retina) and then on to your brain. Cataract extraction surgery will replace the clouded lens with a new lens and, in so doing, will illuminate your blurred vision. Beforehand, you should read more about the results of cataract extraction surgery and FAQ- cataracts.

Blurry vision from things like fluorescent lighting is a normal symptom of a cataract. Cataracts enhance glares and make certain lighting appear fuzzy because of the film covering your lens.

Before you know it, you’ll be enjoying your computer and T.V. the way you used to.

Good luck!

You have a chronic disease that may need long-term treatment. You should research ophthalmologists in your area to get a doctor to look at you. Then you can discuss the specific treatments available.

Yes, they are. Cataract surgery should relieve the problem as it will decrease Glareusing a Blue Fiktering Lens from occurring.
