Can anything be done to prevent further hair loss after a hair transplant? - Hair Transplant Surgery

Can anything be done to prevent further hair loss after a hair transplant?

I had a hair transplant to hide bald patches around the crown of my head two years ago and was happy with the results. I'm planning on a second transplant this year to cover the hair loss on the top of my scalp but would like to avoid a third transplant if the balding continues. Is there anything that can be done to stop me loosing more hair and needing another procedure?

Thank you for your question. My name is Ilhan, I am the Patient Coordinator for Memorial Hizmet Hospital,ISTANBUL-TURKEY. For more information about Hair Transplant at Memorial Hizmet Hospital, please contact us by viewing Memorial Hizmet Hospital’s profile.
Profilactic treatment for patient's own hair can be applied. i.e hair mesoteraphy, PRP ( platelet rich plasma ) treatments and prescriptions for use at home.
These treatments increase the success rates of hair transplant and above mentioned preventive treatment can be applied to avoid further hair loss.

Hi there,

According to the well know expert in hair transplant filed such as Dr. Cole forhair.com clinic says, a second hair transplant procedure should be take under rare condition because:

1. It allows time for the blood supply to return near normal to support the next surgery.

2, It allows the donor area to become lax once again, so that a second strip can be taken out without undue tension on the closure and the possibility of a wide scar.

3. You want all of the hair to be growing at the time of the subsequent surgery, so you don’t puncture a new recipient site right on a previously placed graft.

4. You want the patient to see some concrete evidence of hair growth that is relatively impressive so you will be motivated to go through with and pay for another procedure.
